Homicide detective Levi Abrams is barely holding his life together. He’s reeling from the fallout of a fatal shooting, and his relationship with his boyfriend is crumbling. The last thing he’s prepared for is a serial killer stalking the streets of Las Vegas. Or how he keeps getting thrown into the path of annoyingly charming bounty hunter Dominic Russo.
Dominic likes his life free of complications. That means no tangling with cops—especially prickly, uptight detectives. But when he stumbles across one of the Seven of Spades’s horrifying crime scenes, he can’t let go, despite Levi’s warnings to stay away.
The Seven of Spades is ruthless and always two moves ahead. Worst of all, they’ve taken a dangerously personal interest in Levi and Dominic. Forced to trust each other, the two men race to discover the killer’s identity, revealing hidden truths along the way and sparking a bond neither man expected. But that may not be enough to protect them.
This killer likes to play games, and the deck is not stacked in Levi and Dominic’s favor.
Series ➷ #1 of the (Seven of Spades #1) series.
Characters ➷ Levi Abrams, Dominic Russo
Riina’s Review ♦️
WOHOO! What a fantastic book!
It’s been a long time since I came a cross such a brilliant story, and such a FUN way to begin what seems to become very promising series (of five titles so far!)
Man, I’m completely hooked.
As expected, Kill Game ends on a cliffhanger (it’s a series after all). You know, I’m not a patient person and I like to read a series or trilogy or anything with more than one installment in one go. I understand if some of you might want to sit back and wait until the series is completed (Winter 2018, I think), but let me tell you, you’ll be missing out on something AWESOME until then.
I, for one, don’t regret reading the first book already.
Of course, the waiting will kill me!
I’m not kidding, it was so good – I am dying to continue this journey.
For me to truly enjoy a book I have to like the main guys, and preferably the sidekicks and rest of the cast.
Dominic and Levi are the perfect guys for me, truly wonderful each in their own way.
What makes them perfect? Their flaws, their imperfections. I want to use the term flaws very loosely, because to me they’re not ‘defective’.
Just… You know, HUMAN.
I enjoyed both their voices a lot. I was very happy to discover we get Lev’s as well as Dominic’s POV.
Both guys felt very real, very human to me, like that one friend you have or reflecting a side of yourself you don’t like.
Individually they were both a lot of fun.
Together they’re off the charts, absolutely awesome.
Levi and Dominic weren’t even friends in the beginning but you could tell there would be fucking CHEMISTRY if they got together. You could just tell. AND I love it when a story gives you two guys and you just WANT them to be together one way or the other. Doesn’t happen a lot so I was thrilled with how the author worked the romance angle.
I enjoyed the way they were thrown together, slowly, and eventually working side by side.
It was slow but not frustratingly so.
So the ROMANCE part alone gets a full 5 STARS from me.
Then there is the whole other thing, the serial killer part which I had so much fun with you wouldn’t believe. Another 5 STARS for that.
I mean, truthfully, it wasn’t overly bloody or dark or had me on the edge of my seat but it was fun and engaging, combined with the romance it was exactly how I want my books to be!
Some bits were smart and I loved how it all unraveled, even though I saw the ending coming exactly as it did.
Especially when it comes to cops and serial killers, this was one of the most enjoyable books and I can not wait to get my hands on ALL THE OTHERS!!
I’m so looking forward to installment #2.
