♦️ Synopsis ♦️

It’s the height of summer in Las Vegas. Everyone believes the serial killer Seven of Spades is dead—except Levi Abrams and Dominic Russo—and it’s back to business as usual. For Levi, that means investigating a suspicious overdose at the Mirage that looks like the work of a high-class call girl, while Dominic pursues a tough internship with a local private investigator. The one bright spot for both of them is their blossoming relationship.

But things aren’t so simple. Soon Levi is sucked into a dangerous web of secrets and lies, even as his obsession with the Seven of Spades intensifies. Dominic knows that Levi isn’t crazy. He knows the Seven of Spades is still out there, and he’ll do anything to prove it. But Dominic has his own demons to battle, and he may be fighting a losing war.

One thing is certain: the Seven of Spades holds all the cards. It won’t be long before they show their hand.

♦️ Riina’s Review ♦️

I’ve been anticipating the release of this book for what feels like forever!

If you’ve read my review of KILL GAME (SEVEN OF SPADES, #1) BY CORDELIA KINGSBRIDGE you’ll remember how much I enjoyed the beginning of this series!

Levi and Dominic quickly became one of my favorite couples and the story grabbed me from the get go. Who doesn’t like a good book about a serial killer and two incredible guys falling in love?

My absolute favorite recipe!

And Cordelia Kingsbride does not disappoint.

Trick Roller opens three months after the events in Kill Game, we’re back in the middle of Levi and Dominic’s blossoming relationship and another homicide. Levi is being called to a case of a suspicious overdose at the Mirage that looks like the work of a high-class call girl, while Dominic pursues a tough internship with a local private investigator.

I loved Levi and Dominic in this just as much as in the first installment! Their chemistry is fantastic, the writing beautiful und the story engaging and full of surprises. I was hooked once again 🙂

I liked how the author connected the dots between two cases and yet leaves us just as clueless as we were at the end of Kill Game, at least where the Seven of Spades is concerned. But you know, at the same time this very thing frustrated me the most. While I love a good mystery, I’d hoped for MORE from the Seven of Spades.

The overall pace felt a bit slow, the focus not only on the crimes and mystery but also on their relationship and friendships with others. Personally, I wanted more blood and murder 😉 but I take what I can get.

As a whole this was a wonderful continuation – I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Highly recommended!!!

I am dying to continue with this journey.
